Can I select only the features that I need?
Absolutely. One of Crew Link's main goals is to remove the barrier to entry: use only the features you need to get the job done, then turn on more advanced tools as your company grows. During Setup your company (right after you create an account) you choose which optional features to enable, such as payroll, time tracking, inspections, client approvals, work requests, and analytics. You can change those choices anytime in Company Settings. Core jobs, quotes, schedule, clients, crew, and chat stay available so you can start working immediately. Can I change this later? Yes. Owners can turn optional features on or off in Company Settings. Turning a parent feature off also turns off its related options (for example, turning off quote approvals also turns off quote signatures and service agreements). What if I skip setup steps? You can skip remaining Feature or Workflow steps during setup. Skipped steps currently turn those remaining features on, so you are not locked out. You can still turn unused features off in Settings.
Is it required that a client use or download the app?
No. Clients do not need to download a native iOS or Android app. They can use Crew Link in a phone or desktop browser, or you can keep them off the portal if you prefer. You choose whether to invite a client to create an account, and you control which in-app and email notifications they receive. You can keep clients as separate from the process as you like. We still recommend they join (even just in the browser) so they can approve quotes, message the crew, view progress photos, and pay without email back-and-forth. Crew Link is built so clients stay as involved as they want to be, which reduces confusion and scheduling or payment blockers. Can they use a web browser instead of an app? Yes. The web app is mobile-first. Native store apps are coming; the same account will work on both. Do they have to create an account to get a quote? No. You can email quotes and payment requests. Approving a quote, chatting, and using the client dashboard do require signing in (web or future native app).
Why is the site free?
Our goal is to keep Crew Link free forever so growing companies do not have to add another monthly software bill just to get work done. There is no subscription and no credit card required to sign up. Core features are not locked behind a paid plan. Will there be ads on the page since this is free? Maybe someday on the public website, if we need help covering infrastructure costs (including AWS) as the platform grows. We will never sell your data, and we will never raise your prices or pad job quotes for advertising kickbacks. Any ads would be a last resort to keep the product itself free for companies. How do you make money to maintain the site and keep adding features? Later on, optional affiliate links will be a large part of how we cover hosting and keep building features. If you already buy materials at Lowe's or Home Depot, you can enable Retailer product search in Company Settings. Using those links may earn Crew Link a commission. Your prices never change, and the feature stays off until you turn it on.
Who is Crew Link for?
Small U.S. home-service and field-service businesses (landscaping, painting, cleaning, plumbing, electrical, hvac, inspections, pest control, dent removal, detailing, mobile services, and more) that need jobs, quotes, schedule, crew, and client communication without an enterprise subscription. Homeowners and clients can use the free client portal at /client to follow jobs across contractors that use Crew Link, or open a free company account to run their own home projects with recurring jobs and inventory.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. Create a company account, set up the features you need, and start jobs. Online card payments for your clients are optional and use Stripe Connect (Stripe's processing fees apply; Crew Link's platform fee is 0% at launch).
Can I collect payments from clients?
Yes. Connect Stripe in Billing when you are ready. Clients can pay from a payment request on the job (card, ACH, and related Stripe methods). You can still track cash, check, and other offline methods without connecting Stripe.
Does it work on my phone without downloading anything?
Yes. Open crew-link.com in Safari or Chrome on a phone. Crew and owners can run the same workflows in the browser. Native iOS and Android apps are listed as coming soon on the homepage when store URLs are not live.
Is my data sold or shared with advertisers?
No. We will never sell your customer or company data. It stays on Amazon Web Services (AWS). We do not share it with advertisers. The only extra sharing is with tools you choose to connect, such as Stripe or accounting software.
Do you use AI to talk to my clients?
No. Crew Link is built on crews linking with clients, not bot agents. We do not use AI to stand between your business and your customers. That helps keep your data secure, helps keep the app free, and keeps a direct connection from your crew to your clients.
What languages are supported?
Crew Link supports the top 5 languages in North America (English, Spanish, French (Canada), Filipino, and Simplified Chinese), including in-app chat translation. Use the language control on the public header to preview the site in another language.
Can I use Crew Link with more than one company?
Yes. Owners, managers, crew, and clients can belong to more than one company and switch companies from the header. Clients can follow jobs from every contractor that invites them.
